Jane Seymour Fonda, Actress, Producer, Feminist Author, Peace Activist, committed feminist and peace activist, made her theater debut in 1960 in the play There Was a Little Girl, earning her two Tony Award nominations. We find her at the movies the same year in the movie The head upside down. Between 1960 and 1990, she played in 67 films, which earned her several nominations for Best Actress at the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and Bafta Award. She has won the Oscar for Best Actress twice and 2 BAFTAs.
In 1991, she retired from acting.
She returned to the screen in 2005 in the movie Monster-in-Law. In 2009, she returned to Broadway in the play 33 Variations which earned her a nomination for the Tony Award. Since 2015, she plays one of the leading role in the Netflix's Grace and Frankie, witch has earned her nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. We also saw her in 2018, in the Book Club movie.
Jane Fonda has always defended women's rights and fought against global warming. She made her mark in 1972 during a peaceful demonstration against the Vietnam War with a photograph showing her sitting on the seat of a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun and a military helmet on her head. In 2005, Jane co-founded the Women's Media Center, an organization that aims to highlight women in the media.
In 2019, she decided to stop everything and take action to stop the climate crisis. She was inspired by Greta Thunberg’s call to act like “our house is on fire”. Last October, she moved to Washington DC and launched “Fire Drill Fridays” with Greenpeace.
She has a new book coming out on September 8th, called “What Can I Do? My Path From Climate Despair to Action”.
